Fans still make sense

ALL you need to know ABOUT CEILINGÂ FANS
ASK THE EXPERT
Question 1: There’s a lot of confusing information around about ceiling fans. What’s your take on it?
Answer: People often have them scattered throughout the house, but ceiling fans work most effectively in the bedroom. There would be very few nights that a
modern, efficient ceiling fan wouldn’t keep you cool and comfortable if it is sized correctly for the room.
Q2: So you’re saying there is no need to air-condition a bedroom?
A: Yes. Many people don’t realise how a fan works. Its air flow helps evaporate sweat from the skin, lowering body temperature. The latest fan technologies push more air around while using minimal power and are very quiet. They also come with LED lighting options and remote controls, so you can operate them from bed.
Q3: So what about my air-conditioned living area, with a ceiling fan?
A: Great care must be taken mixing ceiling fans with air-conditioning systems. If they are badly sited they can actually overload an air-conditioning system by interfering with its thermostats and air-flow sensors, stopping it cycling as it should.
Q4: My house has old, noisy ceiling fans. What’s a replacement option?
A: We had great success recently with Ventair’s super-quiet fan range, which caters for several price budgets. As well as LED lighting options and remote control operation, the fans are made of corrosion-proof materials for long life.
