Standard bulbs heat up therefore losing energy. LED light bulbs on the other hand produce less heat and provide more light resulting in efficient light output for less power. With electricity prices ever rising, switching to LED lighting will significantly benefit your bills in the long run.
LED lighting products come in all shapes and sizes here are three popular styles:
LED strip lighting
Strip lighting could be for multiple purposes including navigation on steps, hallways and outdoor decks. LED strip lighting is usually coated with a waterproofing substance which enables it to be used in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. LED strip lighting is smaller in size meaning it is ideal for under bench lighting in your kitchen or lighting dark cupboards.
Downlights
Replacing your halogen lights with LED equivalent downlights could save up to 90% on your energy costs for the light fitting. Halogen bulbs overheat and could cause fires but LED bulbs are safe to use in ceilings after correct installation.
LED downlights provide directional lighting which means they are suitable for areas where limited lighting is required for example the lounge area.
LED Globes
LED Globes can be used as a replacement for traditional incandescent or CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) and fit into common light fittings of standard bayonet cap or Edison screw fixtures. These bulbs help save on ligting, maintenance and cost of replacement.
